12 Days of Insight: Day 1

~12 Days of Insight for a mindful and peaceful holiday season~

DAY 1:
One-Card Message

Card: The Wheel of Fortune

The Wheel of Fortune is always turning, creating Karmic balance and showing us the temporary nature of all form. It brings the message of Wisdom through the practice of Non-Attachment, which is not to be confused with detachment– a form of disconnectedness.

Non-Attachment, by contrast, is a practice in which we we recognize and connect with the infinite and unchanging stillness within ourselves in order to more gracefully weather the changes which we cannot control. This connection extends to all life, with which we share the same fundamental elements, energies, and Truth.

Many things in this world are outside of our control and this can be an incredibly heavy realization as we continue to witness the pain and hardship of so many. Recognizing our Oneness is crucial to our development of Compassion.

When we add to this the recognition of the changing nature of all things, when we cease fighting against this reality and begin to surrender to the flow of human experience (emotions, joys, pain, and all), when we experience life from deep within that centered point of unchanging Awareness, Truth, and stillness, it is here we can achieve true Peace– within ourselves and in the World.

Awesome how the theme of compassion keeps coming up lately.

Also – I’ve read a lot about the vèvè in Voodoo Ritual – each one represents a way to invoke the presence of a different spirit – the spirits arent worshipped, but kind of run interference between the gods and humans. They like to be served and require offerings in order for a person to win their favor. Anyway, it’s all fascinating. It is so fascinating! Yes, there is a vèvè on the backs of the cards in this deck, in fact! http://i.imgur.com/uWuVh3d.jpg 🙂 They are so simple in style, but so beautiful and powerful! Love this part about the spirits– thanks for sharing that! 🙂

Thank you Rachel. It is so true that we have unimaginable support at this time to weather the storms. The Wheel of Fortune is bountiful with the gifts of true understanding – as the sun sets in one place it rises in another. I am reminded by this to tap into the eternal Light Source, continue my personal healing work and know there is true divinity in the Whole and we are All related in this way. Mitakuye Oyasin
